Energy Data Scientist (Quant)
We are actively looking for an Energy Data Scientist to research and develop the algorithms to operate and trade our pool of assets under management as optimal as possible. You will be using data science tools and state-of-the art quantitative models to deliver analysis and algorithms that have a concrete impact on our business, including but not limited to:
- Prediction of relevant power market signals;
- Asset optimisation, and;
- Trading algorithms.

We invest, develop, and operate sustainable and decentralised energy sources (mainly mid-size Battery Energy Storage Systems, so called BESS) to help our clients achieve their goals. As our Data Bnewie, you’ll play a crucial role to:
- Contribute to the overall digitalisation of Bnewable and the data-driven optimisation and trading decisions (to operate local assets as part of our Virtual Power Plant).
- Analyse to understand the different electricity market products.
- Develop, improve and support our internal models and tools to capture maximum value from these markets.
- Design of forecasting of local generation and customer consumption as input for the optimisation algorithms.
- Capturing and modelling of electricity data and time series (on quarter hourly granularity) and visualising data insights.
- Leverage complex data to provide market insights to our other Bnewies.
Your Profile.
- University degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering or Computer Sciences.
- Strong mathematical skills and at least 5 years of experience with data science techniques, statistics, (AI) machine learning and optimisation.
- (In-depth) understanding of the energy business and power markets. Experience in short term power markets is a plus.
- Demonstrated coding skills in order to develop autonomously prototypes and models.
- Have a good dose of common sense and a focus on delivering results and meeting deadlines.
- Have a passion for problem-solving and a relentless drive to seek out answers, often thinking outside the box to find creative and innovative solutions.
- Native fluency in Dutch and/or French and/or English, both oral and written
